Fun is the primary craving of the Sacral Chakra; and each of our Sacral Chakras are on a never-ending quest to give us that fun. We are happiest when we are honoring that primary craving by: spending time with friends; laughing; engaging in hobbies; going on adventures; exploring new sights; having sex; letting ourselves be swept away by the moment; eating good food; dancing; playing games; watching sports; or doing any of the other things that we perceive as enjoyable.
Unfortunately, many of us see fun as a luxury that we seldom make time for. Instead, we become wrapped up in our many responsibilities. And there are many of us who become addicted to responsibilities, work, studying, and doing important things. We fill our plates with have to’s because we (somehow) believe that there is prestige in being able to successfully carry the weight of so many responsibilities. When our plates become full of have to’s, we leave no room for want to’s, which seriously disrupts and disappoints the sacral energy.
Our society has given some status to workaholics and many of us (incorrectly) believe that the more we work or the more responsibilities we hold, the more respect we will earn. That belief has left many of us feeling the mental, physical, and emotional punishments of the Sacral Chakra. We suffer from back pain, loss of sexual interest, emotional detachment from life, and an inability to enjoy life. Basically, we become burned out as a result of neglecting the needs of our Sacral Chakra.
Disrupting and disappointing the sacral energy not only makes us feel "burned out," it also creates a creative barrier. Creation and fun are both housed in the Sacral Chakra. So, basically, denying by denying yourself fun and playfulness, you also shut down your creativity.
The answer, however, is NOT to give in to all of the whims of the sacral chakra. In order to stimulate your sacral energy, you may feel tempted to wildly indulge in fun, play, and party animal behavior. Wait.
The desire to be recognized for hard work, responsible actions, and carrying out “important” tasks is a need for the Solar Plexus Chakra (chakra just above the Sacral Chakra). To let go of tasks and responsibilities may solve issues related to Sacral Chakra dysfunction, but it will not be healing to the overall energetic system. If we take away from the solar plexus needs to feed to the sacral needs, we continue to be imbalanced... We’ve just moved the dysfunction from one location to another.
Feeding your creative energy doesn't just boil down to responding to Sacral needs. Your creativity actually relies on BALANCE. Balancing your energy allows energetic flow... energetic flow that is necessary to actually make creation happen.
Although it is the sacral chakra (2nd chakra) that is responsible for creating, we also need healthy root chakra energy. The root chakra (1st chakra) keeps us grounded and ensures that basic needs are met, which prevents us from being distracted . The solar plexus chakra (3rd chakra) motivates us to complete our creative projects. And, it gives us the confidence we need to create and put our creation "out there" in the world. The heart chakra (4th chakra) gives us the passion to create and lets us put our passion into whatever we're creating. It's what gives our art, writing, dance, music, invention, etc. HEART. The throat chakra (5th chakra) is where we express ourselves. It is what allows you to turn your creativity into a product. The 3rd eye chakra (6th chakra) is where your intuition and imagination live. How creative would you actually be without your imagination? And, your crown chakra (7th chakra) is your spiritual connection. From there were are given those unexplainable ideas that we can't quite explain. Have you ever written a poem or sang a song that just seems to come from somewhere else? You need your crown chakra for those types of epic creations.
