Most of us have a pretty good idea about what we need to do to get healthy, balanced, or whole. And if we don’t, we live in an age that is abundant with accessible information that can point us in the right direction. However, what many people lack is motivation.
I have heard countless stories of frustration from people who collect magazine articles, self-help books, and Pinterest posts on becoming healthier, balanced, mindful, and self- aware... but that is where they stop. They collect and hoard information, but never quite find the motivation to put any of it into practice. First, I must say that collecting information is a step in the right direction. Planning and visualizing are great ways to begin making a change. But then, where do you find the motivation to carry it out?
Then, there are other people who just seem to always be motivated. They are always going, doing, making, being... If we take a closer look at these people, we will see that they also have all of the signs of a healthy and balanced Solar Plexus Chakra. They have confidence, willpower, and independence that accompany and feed that motivation.
So, for the rest of us, perhaps the key to finding the motivation that we need to make all of those positive changes in our lives that we only dream (and pin) about is to strengthen the energy that lives in the Solar Plexus Chakra.
How do you do that?
Unfortunately, it isn’t always as simple as strengthening the solar plexus energy. If you are one of the people who struggle with motivation (and you can’t even find the motivation to work on strengthening your solar plexus energy), it could be a symptom of depression. Energetically speaking, depression is the result of stagnated energy flow in one of the chakras. It can actually manifest in any of chakras. When energy is blocked somewhere, the lack of flow creates a stagnation that eventually stales or spoils energy and the result is depression.
Energy stagnation that is serious enough to cause depression usually comes from trauma or damage to energy somewhere along the continuum. Experiencing abuse, neglect, serious illness or injury, abandonment, infidelity, addiction, and traumatic death of a loved one can cause that type of damage. Even if your experience with one of those things occurred 20 years ago, your energy remembers... and until it is adequately healed, you will likely continue to experience solar plexus dysfunction, along with depression and that lack of motivation. Often, the only way to correct that dysfunction is through intense and intentional healing practices, and with the help of a professional. I am a huge advocate of therapy! I also work with many women on this very issue using Chakra Coaching that targets and heals the underlying stagnation associated with their energetic trauma.
So, back to my original point... Motivation is what drives our energy throughout entire energetic system. We nurture that motivation by nurturing the needs of our Solar Plexus chakra. By doing things that strengthen our confidence, self-esteem, willpower, leadership skills, and autonomy, we will be opening the doors for motivation to pull us through to make healthier choices, engage in exciting opportunities, and experience true growth and balance.
